This bright, sweet coffee welcomes you with a Black Forest gateau combination of berries, chocolate and a creamy mouthfeel – what’s not to love? The magnificent PB Boma has been pulled together by over 250 Kenyan farmers and processed at the Boma wet mill in the Kericho region.

Origin
The producers at this mill are part of the Boma Farmers’ Cooperative Society; this means that lots of farmers work together to create better opportunities for themselves, their families and the wider community, through initiatives such as access to training. There are two washing stations at Boma, which sit in Kenya’s rift valley – a ridge system that runs from the north to the south of the country.

This specific mill processes all the selectively grown cherries, picked and sorted from all the co-op’s farms. Each tree typically yields around 5-10kg of cherries per season, and these farmers produce a whopping 600 metric tonnes per year!

Although the Kericho region produces an abundance of speciality coffee, it’s better known for its numerous, large, world-renowned, tea plantations. Kericho showcases ideal growing altitude and highly fertile soil conditions, usually producing medium-high acidity in the cup with notes of citrus and rich chocolate.

Washed process
The coffee is wet processed, where the fully ripe cherries are pulped, fermented for 12 to 48 hours, and washed. After this, the beans are dried slowly over two to three weeks on raised African beds, until the moisture content is reduced to 10-12%. The coffee is then processed at Othaya dry mill, where it’s rested.

This dessert-flavoured treat is the perfect morning pick-me-up, the ideal complement for the last course of a dinner party, or can be enjoyed whenever you want a fantastic, fruity, chocolatey cup of coffee.
